I think one of the best ways to start your day is with a cold shower. As part of my “Self-Care Series” I’m gonna share 3 reasons why.

I like to start each day with a cold shower…no, seriously! There are many benefits. But here’s the countdown of my top 3 reasons.

    • REASON #3. Starting your day with a cold shower will save you time and money.
      I know that’s 2…but time equals money…so it’s really just 1. But I guarantee you’re gonna want to spend less time in the shower and you’re gonna be using less water.
    • REASON #2. It leaves you feeling awake and alert. So, it’s a great way to jump start your day.
    • REASON#1. That blast of cold water sets off a very powerful neurological reset by stimulating the VAGUS NERVE which helps your body to adapt to stress and that’s really what it’s all about!

So, starting your day off with a cold shower is a great way to boost your metabolism.

I like to just get right into it because it feels SO GOOD once the water warms up! However, I know that starting out taking a cold shower probably not the easiest thing in the world.

So, here’s how I started:

    • I would start off each day, take my regular warm shower. Then gradually turn the hot water down until I could start to feel that water get cooler. Each day I would gradually decrease the water temperature and increase the time spent in the in the cooler water.
    • Once you get used to it, you can then go from hot to cold, back and forth repeatedly to really get things pumping.
    • This has been part of my daily routine for many years now. So much so that on the rare occasions that I don’t do it…it just doesn’t seem right.

So, I want to encourage you to take the 30-day Cold Shower Challenge.

Each day for the next 30 days take your normal warm shower and gradually ease off the temperature from warm to cold.

Once you feel that cold water hit, start dancing and start counting, “1 Mississippi 2 Mississippi 3 Mississippi!”

Each day you gradually increase the length of time that you’re spending in the cooler water.

    • 30 seconds to 1 minute is a GREAT start!
    • The longer the better.
